Overview

The Previous Network is built with a multi-universe perspective at its core.

Core Contracts

The core contracts of the Previous protocol, including the Set Registry, Kind Registry, Relation Registry, and Token Registry, are deployed on multiple chains. Developers register their contracts on the registry of the respective chain.

Telescopes

When end users interact with these contracts — such as minting, updating, upgrading, or relating objects — events are generated. These events are captured by a system known as the Telescope Array, which delivers them to the Previous chain. This process ensures that all interactions across different chains are tracked and recorded on the Previous chain.

Blockchain

Events captured from user interactions trigger a revision bump for the related objects on the Previous chain. Whenever a new revision is reached, the kind contract of the object is executed to compute the object’s assets for the new revision. This computation is crucial as it makes the object’s assets available via the Preimage Gateway, ensuring that the latest state and data of the object are accessible and up-to-date.
